# Add Your Clients

There are three ways to add clients (so far):

1. Create them manually
2. Import your loan book from a CSV, or;
3. Share an invite link so clients can connect to you on their own.

## Bulk Import Clients via. CSV

Import multiple clients at once from a CSV file to automate retention across your entire loan book.

1. Click **Upload CSV** from the Add Clients page. The file needs three columns
2. Click **formatting guidelines** in the modal to download a template.
3. Drag your file into the upload area or click to browse — only `.csv` files are accepted.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Prefer a hands-off import?** Click "Ask us to do it for you" in the upload modal. Our team will handle the migration as part of your onboarding.
{% endhint %}

## Share your Unique Invite Link

1. Click **Copy Invite Link** from the Add Clients page to copy your unique link to your clipboard.
2. When someone opens the link and creates a ScaleApp account, they're automatically connected to your broker profile. They appear in your client records with an **Invite Link** source tag.

The link doesn't expire. Put it in your email signature, on your website, in your social bios — anywhere a potential client might find you.

It's a passive way to let people start their property journey with you through ScaleApp, without you needing to manually onboard every person.

## Client Records

The table below the action cards lists all your clients. Use the search bar to filter by name or source.

Click any row to open that client's profile.

{% hint style="info" %}
This is the **only** place you are able to Delete/Disconnect with your Client/s.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:$primary;">What happens when you add your Clients?</mark>

When you add a client to ScaleConnect — whether manually, via CSV, or through an invite link — several things happen behind the scenes.

### Communication & Invite

How your client is notified depends on how you add them:

<table><thead><tr><th width="173.0546875">Method</th><th>What the client receives</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Manual Add</strong></td><td>Nothing — no notification is sent. You're creating a record on your side. The client won't know they've been added unless you tell them.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>CSV Import</strong></td><td>Nothing — same as manual. Imported clients are records in your practice only.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Invite Link</strong></td><td>The client initiates the connection themselves by opening your link and creating a ScaleApp account. They receive standard ScaleApp onboarding emails.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Add existing ScaleApp user</strong></td><td>The client receives a connection request. They must accept before their data is shared with you.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Client invites broker</strong></td><td>You receive an invite notification. Accept it to establish the connection and gain access to their portfolio.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
Clients added manually or via CSV are **unlinked records** — they exist only in your ScaleConnect workspace. To connect them to a real ScaleApp account, send them your invite link or add them by phone number.
{% endhint %}

### Access & Permissions

Once a client is connected, permissions govern what each party can see and do:

<table><thead><tr><th width="182.38671875">Party</th><th>What they can access</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>You (broker)</strong></td><td>The client's profile, properties, strategy, cashflow projections, AI insights, and automation settings — scoped to your practice only.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Your team</strong></td><td>Same data as you, subject to the permissions your practice admin has granted them.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>The client</strong></td><td>Their own data via ScaleApp — profile, properties, strategy, and AI chat history. They cannot see your internal notes or other clients.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Other brokers</strong></td><td>Nothing. Client data is isolated per practice. A broker outside your practice cannot see your clients' data.</td></tr></tbody></table>

The **Permissions** column in the Client Records table shows the current status of each connection:

* **View** — read-only access to the client's portfolio.
* **Edit** — full access to modify the client's strategy and data.
* **Pending** — connection request sent, waiting for the client to respond.
* **Accept** — the client has invited you; click to accept and establish the connection.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">Deleting or Disconnecting your Clients</mark>

You can disconnect or delete clients from the **Client Records** table on the Add Clients page — this is the only place in ScaleConnect where these actions are available.

### Disconnecting a Client

Disconnecting removes the broker–client relationship. Use this when a client leaves your practice or you no longer manage their portfolio.

<table><thead><tr><th width="174.35546875">What happens</th><th>Detail</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Your access</strong></td><td>You immediately lose access to the client's data in ScaleConnect. Their row is removed from your Client Records.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Their data</strong></td><td>Nothing is deleted. The client's profile, properties, strategies, and history remain in their ScaleApp account.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Their access</strong></td><td>The client keeps full access to their own data in ScaleApp. They can connect to a different broker at any time.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Billing</strong></td><td>The client no longer counts towards your plan allocation. If this drops you below a block threshold, you can downgrade via <strong>Settings → Billing → Manage Subscription</strong> — the change takes effect at the next billing date.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Reconnecting</strong></td><td>You can reconnect with the same client later. Add them again by phone number or have them use your invite link. Previous data is preserved on their side.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Disconnecting is immediate and cannot be undone from the same screen. To reconnect, you'll need to go through the add-client flow again.
{% endhint %}

### Deleting a Client

Deleting removes the client record entirely from your ScaleConnect workspace. This applies to **unlinked records** — clients you created manually or imported via CSV who were never connected to a ScaleApp account.

<table><thead><tr><th width="165.76171875">What happens</th><th>Detail</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Your workspace</strong></td><td>The client record is permanently removed from your Client Records table, along with any strategies you built for them.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Billing</strong></td><td>The client no longer counts towards your plan allocation.</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
If the client has a linked ScaleApp account, you can only **disconnect** — not delete. Their data belongs to them in ScaleApp. To request permanent deletion of a connected client's data, the client must submit a deletion request through support. See [Data & Privacy](https://github.com/scaleapp-au/scaleconnect-docs/blob/main/workspace/data-and-privacy.md) for the full deletion process.
{% endhint %}

### Who Can Disconnect or Delete

Only users with the appropriate practice-level permissions can disconnect or delete clients. If you don't see the option, check with your practice admin to confirm your access level.

<summary>FAQs</summary>

**What's the minimum information needed to create a client?**\
First name and date of birth. Everything else is optional, though more detail means better simulations and AI insights.

**Can I edit a client after creating them?**\
Yes. Open the client from the Client Manager and update any section — profile, properties, goals, subgoals, or automations.

**Can I add properties and goals later?**\
Yes. Each section saves independently. Create the profile now and fill in the rest when you're ready.

**How do templates work?**\
Click **Use Templates** in the sidebar during the add-client flow. They pre-fill form fields with realistic data for common scenarios — adjust the numbers and you're done.

**Can I add multiple properties or loans?**\
Yes to both. Add as many properties as needed, and within each property you can add multiple loans with different terms and structures.

**What's the difference between "Add existing ScaleApp user" and "Invite new client"?**\
If the person already has a ScaleApp account, use "Add existing" and enter their phone number — their portfolio data links automatically. If they're completely new, use "Invite new client" to build their profile from scratch.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.scaleconnect.com.au/scaleconnect-docs/workspace/add-your-clients.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
